Invite your family and friends to come join us in our Easter Celebration.  He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!  Sunday April 1st at 10:00am.  We will have Easter Egg hunt in Children's Church.

Dear Beachside Family and Friends

When attending a night of professional boxing there are several matches on the schedule or "card". There is the "undercard", matches between promising young fighters and older boxers considered to be out of their prime. When the undercard matches are complete, it is time for the MAIN EVENT, a match between established contenders in their prime, sometimes with championship ramifications. Many people who attend the fights are not interested in the early matches: they are only there for the MAIN EVENT.

About two thousand years ago the most important contest of all time was decided. Jesus was laid low by the devil, who thought crucifying Him would stop the ministry He so successfully pursued. Satan was so sure that killing Jesus would eliminate the threat to his demonic kingdom that He was unable to understand what God was planning. God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord (1 Cor 2;7-8)  Satan's preoccupation with getting Jesus out of the way caused him to focus on small battles, and he was caught as an unknowing  participant in the MAIN EVENT.

Jesus willingly offered Himself on the cross, shedding His blood for the forgiveness of our sins. He took on Satan in the MAIN EVENT, THE RESURRECTION, completely dominating him and utterly destroying his power over us. Jesus "wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. (Col 2:14-15) Through His DEATH and RESURRECTION Jesus has broken the shackles that bound us and put them back on the devil.

Join us this Easter Sunday as we celebrate the MAIN EVENT, the RESURRECTION of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Prayer service begins at 9:30, and worship service at 10:00 am. Bring your family and friends and come expecting your Easter Miracle. The Lord is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!

Dear Beachside Family and Friends,

Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest prizefighters of all time. He certainly considered himself the greatest, and many agreed with him. As a three-time world champion, he was accustomed to victory and the rewards that followed. He was successful in his career, and won many accolades.

Ali's attitude poses important questions. Does success in one's career and in this world guarantee success after death? ”Does greatness in this world matter, and what does God consider greatness? The first question is addressed by Jesus in Matt.16:26:  "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? clearly it is possible to have success and be great in the world and never do the things necessary to ensure the salvation of the soul. Sadly, many "successful" men and women never do what is necessary to ensure success after death. Earthly rewards will pass away, and there is only one way to earn heavenly rewards. Jesus spoke in John 14:6 and said "I am the Way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the father but by me." All my success in this world means nothing if I do not gain heavenly success by making Jesus my Lord and Savior.

Since Muhammad Ali declared himself the greatest, it is important to evaluate that claim based on the scripture. In answer to my second question, Mark 10:43-45 tells us"Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

The Greatest Man that ever lived has a simple definition of greatness. To be great is to be like Him, and to become the servant of others. Jesus is the Greatest not because of the quantity of his accomplishments, but rather the quality of his service. His servanthood was obvious to all, and was first addressed to God His Father, and then to those around him. He recognized the two great commandments in saying "And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’* No other commandment is greater than these.” (Mark 12:30-31)

Since his passing two years ago , Muhammad Ali has full understanding of Who really is the greatest. If he were here today, he would tell you "I now know who is the greatest." The final question for all of us his, do we?

Have A Blessed Day

blessed 2

Dear Beachside Family and Friends,

A question often asked of us when the workday has been completed, classes as school are finished, the shopping has been done, and we are finally able to kick back and unwind is this: How was your day? The question opens the door to a myriad of responses, running the gamut from "the best day of my life" to "the day from hell." We define each 24 hour passage according to how we feel about it, and our emotional responses to the experiences between sunrise and sunset determine whether it was a good day or a bad one.

Many individuals seem to be caught up in unbroken chains of bad days. Still others have yo-yo combinations of good and bad days, up one day and down the next. Some feel that they nave no control over the things that happen to them, and live weeks, months, and even years living one defeated day to the next. We recognize these things as a part of the human experience, but are these the lives that God intended for us to live?

Is it possible for God to nave a bad day? Does work get Him down? Do His personal relationships keep Him in a state of turmoil? Is it possible for Him to feel like quitting? To all these interrogatories the answer is a clear and resounding NO! Everything He creates is good, and that includes every day of each one of our lives. The first part of Psalm 118:24 reads "This is the day the Lord has made..." it is impossible for Him to create anything with imperfections. He does not create days full of evil designed to torture and distress us. The second part of this verse says "...We will rejoice and be glad in it." It is Gods responsibility to create our days, and it is our responsibility to rejoice in them!

Paul told an assemblage of Greek philosophers " For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’(Acts 17:28). We were created in the image of God, and if we are born-again, He lives in us through His Son Jesus. Hi? very nature inhabits our lives, and every circumstance in life is an opportunity to rejoice. Not everything we experience each day comes from God, and we do not rejoice over what Satan does. We can choose to rejoice in our relationship with the Lord not by thanking Him for circumstances He did not create, but by rejoicing in the midst of them. "Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, take pleasure in Him]; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit [your graciousness, unselfishness, mercy, tolerance, and patience] be known to all people. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but IN (not for!) everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. (Philippians 4:4-6)

Each day presents us with a choice. What will we do, and how will we respond to the challenges we face. When someone asks the question "how was your day", what will our answer be? Moses told Israel "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: (Deuteronomy 30:19) if we make a conscious choice for life and obedience to God and His Word each day, our response to the question will be the same day in and day out. "I had a blessed day, and I am truly blessed!"

PATIENCE

Beachside Fellowship News

This Week at Beachside!

Dear Beachside Family and Friends,

I developed my driving skills as a teenager living in Atlanta, GA. I remember well that the major highways and residential streets were all fully occupied by thousands of vehicles whose drivers were in a hurry, but going nowhere fast. I had to drive to school and work five days a week, leaving early in the morning and returning late in the afternoon. At that time there were two southbound lanes and two northbound lanes of I-85 through downtown, and during  the morning and afternoon rush, traffic moved more slowly than a new bottle of ketchup.

When I returned to Atlanta in 1998 for a brief sojourn, I discovered that I-85 ha expanded to six southbound and six northbound lanes. I was pleased to find this expansion in place, until the first day I once again experienced rush hour. Instead of thousands of cars doing the slow dash to downtown, there were now TENS of thousands of vehicles choking the roadway. I knew then that the more things change, the more they remain the same.

Coping with traffic as a teenager is a challenge. With years of motor vehicle experience under one's belt (or steering wheel) it should be less so. The unfortunate truth is that most drivers are no better at handling the frustrations of heavy traffic as adults than they were as teenagers. Some become so angry that they give in to road rage, violently venting their displeasure by attacking other drivers. When this occurs, it is clear that the offenders are missing a quality in their lives that would enable them to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride, or the enforced parking practice. That quality is PATIENCE.

Members of our society are not happily disposed to wait. We want to get everywhere as fast as possible, and when we arrive, we do not want to wait very long for the goods or services we traveled to acquire. The lack of patience in our population is evidenced by many who just cannot wait for anything. They cannot stand in line without constantly grumbling and complaining, and will push others out of the way if they think they can obtain their objective more quickly. Conflict then ensues, with the lives of the innocent disrupted and often damaged. We need the return of PATIENCE.

Patience used to be taught by example through the lives of caring parents and school teachers. Some children and students listened, and some did not. The battle for patience is won or lost in the mind. Where our thoughts lead, words and actions will follow. No one knows this better than our old adversary Satan. He costantly works to fill the human mind with impatient, rude, and destructive thoughts. The devil has no patience whatever. If he did, he would still be called Lucifer and would still be enjoying the presence of God in Heaven.

Patience is difficult to develop through mental discipline. Trying to think one's way into patience will not work, as most will become impatient about becoming patient. There is a way to develop the necessary quality of patience. It  begins by recognizing that patience is first and foremost a spiritual force, one that can only be exercised in partnership with God.

Galatians 5:22-23 tells us "But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!" As the power of the Holy Spirit works with our human spirits we can manifest the same patience that God has. How patient is He? He waited through thousands of years of constant rejection by us for just the right time to send His Son to the earth. "But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law.

(Galatians 4:4) God is love, and love personified has this quality: "Love is patient and kind...(1 Corinthians 13:4)

Since God lives in us and is patient, we also have His capacity for patience. When we give our lives to prayer in the Holy Spirit, patience will manifest in our lives, making us complete. "But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. (James 1:4) We cannot be complete in God without patience, and we cannot have patience without God. Let's bring the power of patience back to our lives and set the example for a kinder and more peaceful society.

The roads in Panama City Beach are waiting for their annual transformation into the highways and byways of Atlanta. Tens of thousands of visiting drivers will put us to the test. We should practice praying for those who flip us off, cut us off, and tell us off. Let's make our lives in God complete. Let patience have its' perfect work in us this Spring!

Anne Graham

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding the attacks on Sept, 11, hurricanes and earth quakes. Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?" In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school .... the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK. Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK. Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves. Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW." Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace. Are you laughing? Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they WILL think, of you for sending it. Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us. Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in. God bless you as you share it with friends. No Nation or people can ever survive or succeed without Jesus Christ.

GIVE YOU REST

Dear Beachside Family and Friends,

Billions of dollars are spent each year by those seeking to be entertained. The desire to disengage from life's challenges and escape to a different reality sends seekers in droves to movie theaters, concert halls, sporting events, and theme parks. Looking for experiences that stir the emotions and send adrenaline coursing through their veins, people pay whatever it costs to discover and enjoy the next "thrill".

For some, the only way to find relief from fear and torment is to immerse themselves in a movie or concert. Still others chase the blues away at a football or basketball game. Many hunt solace at the beach or in a spa, and others try to clear their minds by facing their fears on rollercoasters and other mind-bending rides. What ever the proffered solution, the question is always the same: Where can I find peace?

I recently spent some time with about 20,000 other folks at a major theme park. Most of those I encountered were caught up in the frenetic pace and were barely enjoying themselves. The "happiest place on earth' had no peace to give, only endless lines of uncomfortable and somewhat disgruntled grandparents, parents, and children. The surroundings were beautiful and serene, but devoid of the ability to deliver peace. No entertainment venue can deliver peace and freedom. This world cannot offer it. It can be found only in a relationship with God.

Jesus said “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. (John 14:27) What the world cannot give, Jesus provides in abundance as a free GIFT. Trusting Him with our lives enables us to experience the gift of a life  filled with peace, joy, and rest. As Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.(Matthew 11:28)

Peace can only be found in a relationship with Jesus. No form of entertainment can do what He does, giving every believer peace and rest. When we come to Him and fully surrender our lives to His will, the result is PEACE AND REST! WIll you find rest for your soul? Give your life to Jesus today!

Problem Solved

Dear Beachside Family and Friends;

There are times in life when we encounter problems that seem to have no solution. We spend hours thinking and praying, trying to figure things out. After all this effort, we may find ourselves in the same place we started from, dealing with the same challenges. In times like these, we need God and His Word more than ever!

Jehoshaphat, King of Judah was a righteous man. The Bible records that he served God with all his heart, like his ancestor David. He was prosperous in every way, and God blessed the nation of Judah because of his obedience. His success in God attracted the attention of a number of neighboring nations, who allied themselves together to attack and destroy Judah. The enemies' armies were far greater in number and power than the army of Judah, and they faced an impossible situation. In the midst of this very serious problem, they made a very important decision. Jehoshaphat, whose name means "God is my Judge", made this statement to God and the nation: "O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” (2 Chr 20:12

Instead of trying to figure everything out on their own, the nation of Judah took their eyes off the problem, and turned their eyes upon God. They stopped focusing on the challenge, and focused on God and His Word. When they did so, God granted them incredible deliverance from their enemies. They didn't even have to fight. God fought for them, and all they had to do was pick up the riches their enemies left when they destroyed each other. (2 Chr 20:24-25)

The solution for any problem can always be found in God. We need to avoid the temptation to become so focused on solving our problems that we become controlled by them. Like the nation of Judah, we must focus on God and His Word. He is bigger than any problem! When our eyes are on Him, we receive the information necessary to be victorious in any situation.

We will gather together Sunday at 9:30 AM for prayer and 10:00 AM for worship. If you are encountering challenges in life, problems that are larger than yourself, JESUS IS THE ANSWER! Join us and discover how focusing on a BIG GOD makes even the largest problems become small and powerless. As evangelist R.W. Shambach once said "You don't have any problems-all you need is faith in God!

Silence

"Under every speech that is good for anything, there lies a silence that is better. Silence is deep as eternity, speech is shallow as time."

Morning March

Morning March
Military Jokes I was a new Army basic trainee at Fort McClellan, and one requirement was a demanding 12-mile march. We got started at 6 a.m. and were pumped up for the trek.

An hour later, feeling the heavy load of our packs, we wondered if the end would ever come.

"Men," our sergeant yelled, "you're doing a fine job. We've already covered four miles!"

Revitalized, we picked up the pace.

"And," continued Sarge, "we should reach the starting point any minute now."

Life As It Is

Life is like a feast… some are there to serve, while others are there to be served.
